Prasha Maithani

Research Assistant

As a research assistant at the Case Lab, Prasha’s research focuses on the seagrass (Halophila ovalis) microbiome, with the aim of understanding below-ground bacterial pathways and the pathogenicity of marine bacteria to their seagrass host. She carries out frequent sampling to monitor the seagrass microbiome, at several sites across Singapore. Prasha also maintains the Case Lab’s extensive bacterial culture collection.

As an undergraduate, Prasha’s research focused on characterizing coral microbiomes and elucidating their response to anthropogenic stressors. Her other research topics included the Sargassum microbiome and the effects of rising sea levels on estuarine sediment.
